Dave Lee Dinners A Success

A Large Portion of Dave Lee

We all know how funny he is but, have you heard his C.D. ? We have.

Along with a packed house at the Swallow Chaucer Hotel we were regaled by the other talent of Kent’ favourite comedian, his blues singing. His C.D. was a raffle prize at The Dave Lee Comedy Dinner but he did have a few to sell (and sign !) after the six courses of the Swallow’s finest had been consumed and yet another triumph of comedy and comment from Dave.

What a grand evening and just a piffle short of another £3000 into the joint coffers of the Dave Lee Happy Holidays charity and the New Marlowe Development Trust. The two beneficiaries of this charity bash.

This, the second of the series of Dave Lee Comedy Dinners, was another great success, and a most satisfying fund raiser.

Peter Williams, the Campaign Chairman, was in fine promotional form and emphasised the great community spirit that local fun and fundraising can be. He highlighted the East Kent Regions where an untapped numbers of Friends of the Marlowe reside and appealed to them to “join the action”.

The major raffle Winners were :

  • Grand Prize of a Night at the Panto, including limo travel by Barretts and eating out at Zizzi’s, was won by Margaret Noble, Whitstable
  • The Spa Break at a Swallow Hotel : Joyce Gardiner, Herne Bay
  • Cathedral Tour with Dr. David Flood : Melanie Baughurst, Maidstone
  • Borrow a Mini From Barretts : Michael Stillwell Canterbury
  • Coach Tour with Leo’s Pride : Lindsay Burden, Faversham

Other prize winners were : Reg Ireland, Crawley; Dick Routhlife Winfield, Rhodes Minnis; Maureen Ryan.

And the other winners ? All those who attended and in Dave’s own immortal words “ …...so, we’ll have to do it again then “. We will, next year
